What Is Full Spectrum CBD? Part One - Full Spectrum CBD, Explained

Full spectrum CBD is one of three primary cannabidiol (CBD) types alongside CBD isolate and broad spectrum CBD. But what, exactly, is full spectrum CBD? And how does it work? We’ll explore this in part one of our three-part series.

Full spectrum CBD contains a full profile of powerful extracts from the hemp plant including essential oils, terpenes, and cannabinoids. It is also unique in that it allows for up to 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, an inclusion regulated in the United States by the FDA. Full-spectrum CBD is sometimes confused with “whole plant CBD,” but the two vary in that full-spectrum CBD does not contain fibers and other waxy substances left behind in the less-refined whole plant CBD extraction process.

Natural CBD Processes

A combination of pressure, temperature, and solvents are used to extract full spectrum CBD from the hemp plant and to collect the most beneficial elements. The full-spectrum CBD extraction process involves extracting unnecessary lipids while keeping the original amount of cannabidiols, terpenes, and more essential plant distillate. Additionally, full spectrum CBD offers the experience of what is known as the “entourage effect.”

The Entourage Effect

The Entourage Effect is the potent effect of cannabis plant compounds that come together in both full and broad spectrum CBD. Recent studies suggest that when these compounds are taken together, they can show additional benefits — in comparison to the impact of CBD isolate. Research shows it can assist with stress and contribute to overall wellness.
